The KK river trail south entrance offers a nice trail for running, biking, and sight seeing. The trail acts as a connector point and ends at the North entrance.
Watch VideoWalking south, you can see the Pfister and Vogel tannery, once the world’s largest tannery. It’s now home to many maker spaces and businesses. During the Civil War, the tannery supplied leather to Union forces, supporting the war effort.
The trail runs along the lines of the Union Pacific railroad. These tracks extend south to Texas and west to San Francisco.
HDI and the Milwaukee Public Museum host butterfly surveys there every spring and summer that are added to a nationwide survey.
