The Milwaukee River estuary forms where the Milwaukee, Menomonee and Kinnickinnic Rivers meet Lake Michigan. Designated as one of 43 Area of Concern around the Great Lakes, the estuary remains one of the most environmentally degraded sites due to contamination caused by decades of industrial waste.

PROJECT
Recently, a coalition of government entities and advocates launched an ambitious cleanup project to remove sediment, restore the natural habitat, improve public access and spur commercial and residential development.
