The North Avenue Dam Bridge is situated on the remnants of the North Avenue Dam, which was removed in 1997 to improve water quality in the Milwaukee River.
The $1.3 million bridge spans 350 feet, connecting the lower east side to the Riverwest neighborhood.
The pedestrian bridge, which officially opened on Dec. 15, 2004, serves as a link to Milwaukee County recreation trails, the
stone stairs in Caesars Park and bike lanes and sidewalks along Commerce Street.
