As part of Turtle Park’s habitat restoration, volunteers removed invasive species and established a resilient savanna plant community, which promotes habitat for many wildlife species.
Transforming the site to savanna showcases a now rare, but once prevalent plant community. Some of those plant species include Common Milkweed, Butterfly Milkweed, Red and White Oak trees, Asters, Staghorn Sumac trees, Yellow Coneflowers, Black-eyed Susans, Blazing Star and Stiff Goldenrod.
